Skins Sign WR Randel El, TE Fauria
Oh yeah... the Washington Redskins just added two lethal weapons to our offensive arsenal: Pittsburgh WR Antwaan Randel El and Patriots TE Christian Fauria. As promised, Gibbs and owner Dan Snyder were once again extremely aggressive as soon the free agent market opened Saturday morning. Randle El was one of the top available players and was expected to be courted by several teams, but the Redskins' offer had him signed before the weekend was done.
...
The Redskins were also in discussions with linebacker Andre Carter, safety Adam Archuleta and quarterback Todd Collins. All visited Redskins Park over the weekend. Hail to the Redskins!

Next worse case scenario is if the Steelers sign Arrington - Let's hope that Arrington doesn't want to play at "home"
I was holding my breath, hoping beyond hope that Randal El would stay, but I also know that Pittsburgh wasn't about to raise his salary, either.
Good for him ... bad for us.
But here's the question of the day ... I have a keeper league, and have Randal El in my line-up. Should I keep him or not?
I have to say, I am NOT impressed by Mark Brunell.
Even though his numbers for the season didn't reflect much of an impact, those of us who have watched the games throughout the year with great interest know exactly what he brings to the game.
This is a SAD day for Pittsburgh, indeed!
This Steelers' blog has several posts analyzing El's pluses and minuses.
A new Steelers blog is pretty opinionated about it...

Randal El may be one thing in a rushing offense. He may not have had much of an impact in Pittsburg.
But he was underutilized! We're going to run 4 WR sets next year (if you count Colley as the 4th) and we're going to have more speed than any other team out there.
Put this guy on the outside running decoy routes and put Cooley down the middle, and Moss will be open EVERY TIME.
And throw in Brandon Lloyd, who is ridiculously talented at making acrobatic catches...
The Redskins easily have the best WR in the NFL.
If they sign a decent pass rusher, we'll be almost everyone's Superbowl pick next year...
I'll have to put a wait and see on this Redskins team. Although I'm hoping for another Crash and Burn. It's just fun to watch everyone scracth their heads.
If you keep trying to sign your team via free agency, it won't work the majority of the time. But even a blind squirrel will find a nut. This might be Snyder's nut.
Now they have most of the old pieces returning and a couple extras that can only make it better. Perhaps I'm being a little naive here, but I can't help but think that this is going to be THE team to deal with in the NFC East next season.
I'm not drinking the kool-aid. Your QB is either a year older or a first year starter. They should be better, but team to beat - I'm not convinced till I see it on the field.
Snyder thinks the of the Redskins, like the Dem think of education. Add more money and all your problems will be solved.
btw, enjoy that $35 to park at the game.
All in all, I think these are good signings for the 'Skins. Did we need both Lloyd and Randal El? Probably not, though Randal El solves our return problems and hasn't ever really been an every down receiver.
The Archuleta signing is a good one, too. But we still need to address the D-line. Here's hoping that the Jets will take Ramsey and a 2nd-rounder for John Abraham.
