Marilyn Musgrave in a three way race, and in 2007 served as communications director for the Republican Party of Virginia under Chairman Ed Gillespie and Chairman John H. Hager. From 2008 to 2010, Kenney served as executive director of American Life League, the largest Catholic pro-life organization in the country representing some 300,000 families.  In 2011, Kenney was named one of “Virginia’s Top Influencers” by Campaign & Elections Magazine.   Kenney served as Supervisor for the Columbia District for a four year term from 2010 to 2013, and for two years as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in Fluvanna County, Virginia.  Kenney returned to the Republican Party of Virginia in 2014 as executive director under Chairman Pat Mullins.

Kenney currently serves as a principal for K6 Consulting Group, LLC headquartered in Richmond, Virginia that specializes in fundraising and development, political and capital campaign management, social media performance, and crisis communications.
